At the March 18, 2024, Council meeting, a presentation was received from FoodCycler. Their product reduces food waste to a nutrient rich soil that can be added to plants or gardens etc. The goal is to reduce the amount of food waste that arrives at the landfill site.
Food Cycler has the benefit of being a countertop, easy-to-use aid that rapidly manages food waste to overcome barriers to home composting. FoodCycler is also able to process a wider variety of foods that is not typically used in conventional composting i.e. (chicken bones, gravy, fat) in small quantities.
Each participant will be asked to track the weekly usage of their FoodCycler for 12 weeks. At the end there will be a survey and these results can be shared with FoodCycler and with our waste management data collection.
There is a 1-year standard manufacturer’s warranty starting on the date of delivery of all FoodCycler units to the municipality. FoodCycler Science will repair or replace any defects during that time. Extended warranties maybe purchased at additional cost.
Accessories: Additional filters and other accessories may be purchase from FoodCycler at wholesale rates for resale to residents under the pilot program with no additional freight cost provided they are included in the initial order.
