Nomination Period for 2018 Municipal Election Opens in May
There are new dates and rules for filing your candidate nominations due to changes to the Municipal Elections Act, 1996 for the 2018 municipal election. For an overview of these changes visit the Ministry of Municipal Affairs website (http://www.mah.gov.on.ca/Page11112.aspx), and see the Municipal Election Act, 1996 (https://www.ontario.ca/laws/statute/96m32).
The nomination period will commence on Tuesday, May 1, 2018 and closes on Nomination Day, Friday, July 27, 2018. Candidates can file a nomination paper at the Municipal Office during normal business hours until Nomination Day (Friday July 27, 2018) at 2:00 p.m.
Candidate Information Packages will be available at Municipal Office beginning Tuesday, May 1st, 2018.
